VISA TYPES (SUBCLASSES)

Skilled Independent Migrant Visa: This is a preferred choice if you wish to migrate to Australia without a family member or State/territory’s sponsorship.  The minimum pass mark is 65 under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) points test.

Skilled Sponsored Visa
: This visa is for you if you can obtain a sponsorship from an Australian State/Territory Authority under the State Migration Plan.  Your close family member can also sponsor you though no points will be awarded. The minimum pass mark is 65 under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) points test.

Skilled Regional Sponsored (SRS) Visa
: This visa is a 3-year provisional visa if you cannot qualify for a permanent visa initially.  You will need to be prepared to settle and work in a specified regional area of Australia and meet the GSM points test pass mark. Sponsorship can come from a participating State/Territory or a close family member living in a designated area of Australia.

To be eligible to apply for a skilled migration visa under present laws, you must satisfy the following basic requirements:

  1. below 50 years of age; (this has been raised from 45 years of age!!!)
  2. obtain a positive  skills assessment report from a relevant assessment body;
  3. have at least 1 year of recent skilled work experience;
  4. possess educational qualifications in the skill;
  5. have sufficient English language skills capabilities as evidenced by the IELTS report, unless you hold the passport of a native English speaking country;
  6. meet the GSM Points Pass mark at 65.
